Republicans selected Majority Chief Steve Scalise, R-Los Angeles, as their nominee for Speaker of the Home by successful a Republican majority (222 votes) in a closed secret poll election.

The vote was 113-99.

Scalise defeated Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, Republican of Ohio, however has but to safe the 217 votes wanted to win on the Home flooring. The timing of the complete vote within the Home of Representatives stays unclear.
